SPECIFICATIONS

The specifications followed by ‘MR’ Brand of Pipe Fittings are mentioned as below:

  • Material: Black Heart Malleable as per IS : 14329 / 1995 GR: BM: 300
  • Threads: Threads as per ISO-7.2-2000 and Gauges practice as per IS : 8999-2003 parallel female and taper male thread.
  • Finish:Galvanized Finish tested in accordance with the provisions contained in IS : 4759 / 1985, IS : 6745, IS : 2633. Black Fitting also available.
  • Alignment: The angles of threads of fittings are 90° within a tolerance of ± 1/2 %.
  • Marking: Each fitting is marked with our Trade Mark ‘MR’.
  • Size Designations:
    Size designations are determined by the nominal inch sizes at the outlet of fittings. “MR” brand pipe fittings are normally manufactured from 1/2” to 4” sizes.
  • Unequal Fittings :
    The fittings of which the nominal inlet and outlet diameters differ are referred to as unequal fittings. To denote the sizes in case of such fittings, the bigger diameter is indicated first and then smaller diameter.
  • Unions:
    Unions are flat -seated and are supplied with rubber gaskets.

  • Malleability:
    'MR' Brand Pipe Fittings withstand higher internal and external pressures without development of cracks or breakage as these are produced by using better melting characteristics and heat treatment procedures to provide better ductility, malleability and strength.
  • Accurate Threading:
    'MR' Brand Pipe Fittings are G os threaded simultaneously on automatic threading [ i machines to ensure perfect thread alignment at 6 en correct angles and thereby matching the theoretically correct profile. These dimensions are maintained within closer tolerance limits, which ensure closer contact with pipes, valves, cocks etc. and eliminate the hazard of leakage.
  • Chamfering:
    'MR' Brand Pipe Fittings are chamfered slightly at each thread opening for easy entrance of pipes, valves, cocks etc. and correct first thread engagement.
  • Hot Dip Galvanizing:
    Hot Dip Galvanizing: 'MR' Brand Pipe Fittings are galvanized by highest purity Zinc by controlled hot dip | process. Therefore, these have uniform, smooth, clean and continuous coating of Zinc on both internal and external surfaces without any black spots and acid spots. In 'MR' Brand Pipe Fittings the resultant thickness of Zinc coating provides added resistance to corrosion in abnormal weather conditions.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION

‘MR’ Brand Pipe Fittings are extensively used on water, air and oil flow lines in Industrial, Commercial, Domestic, Agricultural, On Ground, Underground, and Concealed area pipe installations and many other fields.

  • Building constructions;
  • Industries, Oil Refineries, Steel Plants, Shipyards, Thermal Plants;
  • Agriculture;
  • Irrigation Projects; and
  • Other fields like city and village water supply schemes.

Quality Controls:

To Control and maintain the required quality, the following tests are performed:

  • 1. Chemical Testing:
    Galvanized Castings are tested to ensure that the zinc coating is smooth, clean, uniform .Raw casting are chemically tested for the required chemical compositions.
  • 2.Visual Inspections:
    a. Raw castings are subjected to strict visual inspections to ensure that they are sound , clean, free from porosity , blow holes and distortions etc.
    b. Annealed , grinded and shotblasted castings are CBS inspected for cracks and distortions.
    c. Thread inspections are carried out to ensure that the machined fittings are free from defects on threaded portions such as thin threads, broken threads and pin holes.
  • 3.Mechanical Test ( by sampling method):
    To ensure that the fittings have acquired the requisite properties , the following tests are performed:-
    1. Malleability Test: To ensure that the fittings have acquired proper malleability.
    2. Tensile test:-To ensure that the fittings are properly annealed and have attained the required tensile strength and elongation.
    3. Pressure Test:- To ensure that the fittings are leak proof when subjected to internal fluid pressure.
    4. Metrological Inspection:- Metrological inspection is done to ensure that the fittings have acquired correct alignment, overall dimensions, wall thickness with the help of suitable thread gauges and micrometers etc.
